Liveupdate is an application that updates Symantec products automatically. It comes bundled with all of Symantec products and will ensure that they stay up-to-date all the time. The importance of an application like this might be underrated, but it is absolutely magnificent to just forget about upgrading your anti-virus definitions or downloading a new version of one of the Symantec solutions that you own. As I said, LiveUpdate installs itself automatically, and upon installation of the Symantec application, it will prompt you to update for the first time. So, out of the box, you have the most up-to-date product. After that, LiveUpdate will sit quietly in the background waiting for an update to hit the Symantec servers. Then, it will update automatically (if that is what you asked it to do the first time) or just prompt you to accept the update. This might be a simple application, but the task that it does is so valuable that I would just not like a Norton anti-virus without it. The best of all, this one is free.
